ABOUT BLAKENEY

At Blakeney Club, it is our goal and commitment to provide an exquisite environment for our members to enjoy with their family and friends that includes, but not limited to tennis, racquetball, swimming, health and fitness, special events and tournaments.

With the help of our highly experienced and skilled staff members, we have created high quality programs to achieve the excellence of service we provide to our members. As a result of this team effort, Blakeney Racquet and Swim Club is home to over 45 league teams, which represents Blakeney Club at several city leagues, state and national
level championship tournaments.

Our Members

We are proud to say that we have members from over 65 countries. A melting pot not everyone can boast of.

We have a competitive teams that have featured in over 200 USTA State, Sectional and National Championship over the course of the past 20years.


Our Amenities

We have hard courts, red clay courts, Har-Tru clay courts, four indoor clay courts (only type in Charlotte) Swimming, fitness center, Sauna, private locker rooms, pro shop, cafe and many more for member use only.

Meet our staff

Berhe


Founder and President of Blakeney Club. Berhe comes from a huge family tennis background that includes 12 siblings. He has played tennis at a high level as a junior, collegiately at Baylor University, and as a professional. Berhe is a USTA High Performance Coach and also a certified professional.

Jeremiah


Membership and Event Director of Blakeney Club. Jeremiah comes from a sports background. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Physical Education. Jeremiah started at Blakeney in 2023 after spending several years as an Athletic Director.

Chris


Director of Blakeney Club Tennis Academy. After playing tennis at Coker University in South Carolina, Chris began his teaching & coaching career. He joined Blakeney in 2023 as the Director of the BTA program, bringing with him 30 years of experience.

Maranda


Teaching Pro, Tournament Director and Adult League Coordinator at Blakeney Club. Maranda began playing tennis at 5 years old, out of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy. She went on to play Division 1 Collegiate Tennis at Duquense University. Maranda started teaching at Blakeney Club in 2021.

Alex


Teaching pro at Blakeney Club. Alex began playing tennis at the age of 5. He has represented Ecuador as both a player and coach. Alex started at Blakeney in 2017. He brings over 27 years of teaching experience with him and is PTR certified.

Gabe


Teaching pro at Blakeney Club. Born and raised in Peru, Gabe is bilingual in Spanish. He is currently pursuing a degree in Sport Science. Growing up around and in the game of tennis Gabe began teaching in 2020 here at Blakeney Club and is PTR certified.

Thiago


Teaching Pro at Blakeney Club. Growing up in Brazil, Thiago competed in both regional and national tournaments. He then came to the US to attend and play tennis for the University of Mount Olive, here in North Carolina. Since joining Blakeney he has worked with all levels of players and is PTR certified.

Erik


Teaching Pro at Blakeney Club. Coming from a tennis family Eric began playing at the age of 8. Growing up he was able to train at top facilities in the country and went on to play professionally. After his time in college he began teaching tennis. He moved to Charlotte in 2013 to continue teaching both juniors and adults.

Kyle


Teaching pro at Blakeney Club. Born and raised in Charlotte, Kyle won 4 consecutive HS State Championships in Singles. Just like his parents he went on to play Division 1 Collegiate Tennis at Depaul University and professionally thereafter.Representing El Salvador Kyle has competed in both the Panamerican games and Davis Cup.

Alvin


Court Maintenance Manager at Blakeney Club. Alvin has been building tennis courts since 1988.
He came from a manufacturing and construction background. Alvin was actually a part of the company that built the courts here at Blakeney. He returned to Blakeney in 2023 to take over all of our Court Maintenance
